The theme for Just Add Ink this week is a totally gorgeous Christmas inspiration photo. Christmas in July!
But…… I’m not ready for Christmas! This year is rushing by and I need a few moments before I start the Christmas crazy. So, I decided to use the styling and colours of this beautiful scene to inspire a birthday card.
The Happy Dies were top of my list from the 2024-2021 Annual Catalogue, but it’s taken me this long to get them out of their packet. So glad I got them! The ‘happy’ die is super easy to use and creates the lovely bold sentiment strip in the middle of the card front.
To add some texture, I embossed the top and bottom section of the happy panel (after I cut the happy) with the 3D Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder. The embossing behind the ‘happy’ letters – inspired by the wood pile in the fireplace and is from a new embossing folder in the upcoming Aug-Dec 2024 mini catalogue called Wrapped in Texture. It’s a set of two in the slim style and although part of a Christmas themed set, you’ll be able to use this all year round.
I added in the stars in colours that matched the baubles from the inspiration photo – Bermuda Bay, Magenta Madness & Blushing Bride. The ‘birthday is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set – stamped in Magenta Madness. I love how vibrant that pink is!
If you’re ready for some Christmas cards and this inspiration photo gets a creative spark going, we’d love for you to join the challenge and add your card to the Just Add Ink blog. If you’re like me, and not ready for Christmas, there’s plenty of other great themes in the inspiration photo that you can use for your project!!! Please join us either way!
Have a great weekend!

I just can’t get off the blue train at the moment!!! And blue flowers *swoon*
I made this card for one of my oldest friends – not old by age, but old by the length of time we’ve known each other. She’s the best for remembering other people’s birthdays – it’s a special talent and always so lovely to get her message on your special day.
The Celebrate Sunflowers bundle reminds me of my friend. She’s bright and has the most beautiful smile.
I hope she likes my non-traditional sunflower – blue flowers aren’t for everyone but I just love how the DSP peeks through!!!
Products used for this card:
Stamp Set: Celebrate Sunflowers
Dies: Sunflowers Dies
Embossing: Subtle
DSP: Flowers for Every Season
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight, Whisper White, Sahara Sand
Ink: Night of Navy

After COVID put the breaks on Social Stamping in Term 1, it was awesome to get back to it today. With the help of two other amazing Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, we’ll be offering weekly sessions during Term 3.
We don’t reveal the cards before the session because we want it to be a surprise when you arrive to craft, but now that the first session is out of the way, let me share with you what we made today.
The first card design had a choice of colours. This won’t always be the case for cards we make, but this design was perfect for a pink or yellow flower, and since I couldn’t choose, I made both and let you choose your favourite.
Every card at Social Stamping classes comes with a high quality Stampin’ Up! envelope which you get to stamp in a coordinating design to the card.
This card used the Tasteful Textures stamp set and Nature’s Thoughts Dies. There was a little bit of fussy cutting for the flower, but everyone managed that beautifully!
The second card on offer today had a butterfly theme. This style was a little more grungy with layers of stamping.
The butterfly is from the Positive Thoughts stamp set, the script words from the Very Versailles stamp set and the sentiment from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. It’s always fun to mix stamp sets to get a totally new look. The swirly circle for the sentiment is from the Painted Labels Dies with a 1-3/4″ circle punch.

All of our stampers made two cards today for $13, which included a hot drink of their choice. The option is also there for one card and a drink for $10 if you want the express option to pop in & out.
The next session in on Monday 3rd August – we can’t wait to see you there. You can RSVP on the event on my Facebook page, or simply turn up at the cafe.

Welcome to Social Stamping – the first of the monthly hops focused on social greetings as themes. If you joined us for any of the 15 weekly Social Stamping hops, you’ll be familiar with the blog hop style, linked to each other and also a main blog host post. Click here to see a full list of designers participating today.
Today’s theme is ‘sympathy’. Sympathy cards can be very hard to make. The elements of the card – the colour choices, the theme, the stamps, the layout – it seems to carry more weight when the job of the card is to express to someone how much we care. I wanted to make a card that covered feeling sad and the new Boho Indigo stamp has has the perfect sentiment – “sorry you’re feeling blue”.
I really love the Boho Indigo Product Medley with it’s serene blue tones and beautiful imagery in the stamp & die set.
Flowers are a great way to express condolences and a good theme for sympathy cards. The stamps and dies in this project set make it easy to create visually stunning arrangements in no time at all. I’ve used a combination of the vase (Smoky Slate), flowers (Misty Moonlight) and leaves (Seaside Spray).
I came across this style of card on Debbie Henderson’s blog recently. She called it an interlocking card – and I just love it!!!
The finished card is the same size as a standard Australian card (A6) and fits in a normal C6 envelope. To create the gap needed for the slider, you cut the card front down by 1/8″ to allow for the slider mechanism to sit snugly down the gap. The card base is 8-1/8″ x 4-1/8, scored at 2″ from each end.
The slider is made using two labels or tags held together with Foam Adhesive Strip. I used two of the same size die from the Tasteful Labels set, cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock and held together using a piece of Foam Adhesive Strip.
It’s so simple but so clever – my favourite kind of card! I can see this being my new favourite as it will fit any style or theme of card.
I’ve added the flowers & vase to the slider and also a piece of ribbon to act as a pull tab.
Thanks for hopping with us today. Next blog to visit is by Julia Quinn – who makes gorgeous projects in sunny Queensland.
Enjoy your weekend. I hope you don’t have a need for many sympathy cards, but if you do, I hope this hop has provided some helpful inspiration!

Hello! I started Social Stamping Blog Hosts back in March when COVID first started affecting our day to day life in Australia and we were in our first experience of lockdown. It was a way to stay connected with each other and share projects in an online platform while many of us were at home. Visit week 15 of the weekly Social Stamping posts to see all the topics – with links to each theme. The themes were chosen for their relevance to the COVID experience and it was wonderful to see how they were interpreted and expressed through creative designs using paper, stamps & ink.
The next phase of our Social Stamping Blog Hosts have moved to a monthly hop with themes of social greetings. They weren’t in any way meant to be related to COVID, but this month’s theme of “sympathy” still seems particularly relevant. I wonder with COVID being so all encompassing at present, that everything in our world will somehow form ties to this pandemic we are living through.
It’s July 2024 and the world has undergone a humongous change. It’s been 5 months of change, chaos, adaptation, adjustment and emotion. We are living through the evolution of this virus – we are part of the research, action and analysis. For some there’s been a huge amount of loss and grief and for others a wonderful amount of reflection and positivity. Many of us have experienced the highs and lows of this pandemic rollercoaster.
While things are fairly stable here in our Western Australian bubble (for now), our east coast has had a spike in transmission and virus numbers. My heart goes out to friends who are in Victoria and back into a lockdown environment. The first time around was challenging. I’m not sure if the second lockdown is heartbreaking, or a sense of resigned de ja vu.
I’m also thinking about family and friends around the world who live in an area that is yet to feel like they are winning against the fight, where numbers keep rising and they feel vulnerable to the spread of the virus. Socially distanced virtual hugs!
Sympathy cards are by far one of the hardest type of cards to make. I’m looking forward to the inspiration on this hop, to be able to draw on the layouts, colours and designs of my crafty friends to make this task a little easier in the future. There’s a full list of participants below, please enjoy the talents of my wonderful stamping friends!

Our Paper Adventures Team had a team meeting on the weekend – which is always a highlight on my calendar. Is there any better social occasion than a cup of tea and cake with friends who share the same passion, great conversation, lots of laughs and an opportunity to get inky – all in the space of a morning!
The topics of conversation vary at meetings but we usually discuss the catalogues – favourite products and things we might have missed noticing, team news – who’s doing what and any Stampin’ Up! news.
As part of the meeting, I had the delightful task of congratulating Lisa Whitehead who has shown great innovation and dedication over the past 12 months and promoted to Bronze Elite level. This means she earns herself an extra 5% commission on everything she sells to her customers and 5% extra discount on her own personal spending.
The 苹果手机shadowsock were a must have for me from the Annual Catalogue. I love anything stitched, and the geometric finish of the triangle shapes makes them super fun to work with!
Don’t you love how the light catches those letters! The Playful Alphabet Dies were another first love from the Annual Catalogue. The light catching the Copper Foil on these letters makes the card shine!
And for that extra bit of wow, I’ve added the foil to the Foam Adhesive Sheet before running them through the Die Cutting Machine. It’s so easy but so effective. If you buy the Playful Alphabet Dies, you must buy the Foam Adhesive Sheets as well!
The colours for this card are Bermuda Bay, Bumbleebee, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray with Copper Foil letters on a Whisper White base.

Hello there crafters! Thanks for joining me today. I’m hopping with my friends around the world as part of the Stamp Review Crew where we showcase a Stampin’ Up! stamp set. Today it’s the Jar of Flowers stamp set – and the coordinating suite of products, which includes a punch, shaker domes, ribbon, DSP and more!
I love the array of flowers that this stamp set comes with. And of course, I L-O-V-E the Jar Punch. Coordinating bundles are a win in my book!
The first card I’m sharing today features the sunflowers. Sunflowers are just so bright & cheery.
This suite has been created with a focus on the 5 new In Colors. They are featured heavily in the Flowers for Every Season DSP and provide an excellent colour palette to base your project colour combinations on.
I love the combination of white, yellow & blue together. The sunflowers have been painted using Bumblebee & Cinnamon Cider ink using a shadowsock手机版 – so they are extra shimmery when you see them up close!
I added more sunflowers to the inside – because I love a good carry through of a theme!!! This suite is perfect for layering – the colours coordinate, the DSP matches and the accessories bring it all together.
The Jar of Flowers stamp set is one of the few image only sets in the catalogue. This is a purposeful design feature so that you can match it with all your favourite sentiment sets. I’ve used the Happy & Birthday words cut separately from the stamp in the Happiest of Birthday stamp set. This is a great staple for every crafter. Birthday cards are the most common type of card sent (accounting for half of ‘everyday’ cards sent), so it helps to have a fabulous set such as this in your collection.
For the second card I’m sharing, it’s really about the whole suite – featuring the DSP, punch, dome shakers, ribbon and the long stripey stamp from the set as a straw to create an M&M milkshake slider card!
The flap the shaker dome sits on lifts up from the card front revealing the way to the M&Ms.
When you pull out the sliding piece, the mini M&Ms fall out of the back of the jar.
The shaker domes that coordinate with the punch and stamp set add so many more options on how to use this set. The domes can be filled with an array of small pieces. I’ve seen a great tool themed card where the jar was filled with nails, bolts & screws – what a fantastic idea!!
For more fabulous ideas, please keep hopping and visit the blogs of the other Stamp Review Crew design team members. They always come up with inspirational projects.
Next stop is my gorgeous and always creative friend Lou Kitzelman.
Have a great week!

It’s hard to believe that the first Frozen movie was released in 2013 and Disney’s ice empire has been a family favourite for almost 7 years!
Little Miss Papercraft had a first birthday extravaganza with a Frozen theme in 2014 (see the decor fun here). Fast forward 6 years and we did it all again today!
There’s some wonderful snow themed products coming up in the new Aug-Dec Mini Catalogue, which I had the pleasure of pre-ordering this month. This catalogue is available to customers from 4th August 2024. My regular customers will receive their copy of the catalogue this week. If you need a copy of the Australian catalogue and don’t have a demonstrator, please let me know via email or Facebook.
Using a combination of new product, Annual Catalogue favourites and retired gems, this is the Frozen inspired birthday card I designed for Miss Papercraft.
The sentiment is from the retired Magical Mermaid stamp set and the card base is also a retired favourite – Blueberry Bushel.
The Snowflake Splendor DSP is new – you’ll find it in the upcoming Aug-Dec Mini Catty. I’ve embellished it with Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems (also new) and Basic Rhinestone Jewels.
I already had snowflake dies, which are long retired, but kept in my stash for Frozen like occasions. Although, I was super tempted by the gorgeous Snowflake Wishes bundle in the upcoming mini.
I did invest in some Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper – it’s nice to have some sparkle again after Stampin’ Up! retired the previous colour range of glimmer paper.
To make a spinner card you’ll need the Layering Circles Dies and twine to adhere the spinning element. I used the Night of Navy, white & silver twine from the Flowers for Every Season Combo Pack.
The card was personalised with the birthday girl’s name in blue glimmer. I used the Playful Alphabet Dies for these letters, and also the ‘7’ on the spinning element. The inside layer was textured using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and the labels for the card (the name panel and the circles on the spinning snowflakes) are from the shadowsock手机版.
I added the writing panel for this card to the back of the fold, so I could write a full message without worrying it would be seen through the spinner hole.
Did you spy the party favour bags in the background of the card photos? I used the snowflake die (retired) in blue glimmer with a new stamp from the shadowsock 安卓apk. (Given Olaf from Frozen enjoys warm hugs, this coincidence made me smile!). I teased apart the same twine used on the cards for a thinner (and differently coloured) version to attach them to the bags.
I had a total fail on the coordinating wrapping paper for the theme, but couldn’t go past this pink unicorn roll from Kmart!
Here’s a picture of the birthday girl looking beautiful with her Frozen inspired face paint. If you live in the Bunbury area and need a face painter, contact Shelle’s Fancy Face Painting – she was amazing! Click here to visit her Facebook page. She also does school holiday workshops and other awesomely creative things!
The girls got to choose their design – each one with a super cute bling cluster to make them feel like the princesses they are! I couldn’t bear to make Miss Papercraft wash her face before bed tonight!!!
Happy birthday to our gorgeous 7 year old!!!! May your adventures of the next year be ‘cool’ and ‘royal’!

As the weather chills down here in the south west of Australia, weather seemed like a great theme for the July 2024 Paper Adventures team hop. I’m never more aware of the weather than when it’s cold. I spend my time both enjoying the lashing of rain (I love a good storm) and wishing it away as I wait for warmer days. My favourite season is definitely summer!
We welcome Leonie Stuart today as our guest designer. I love Leonie’s elegant style and beautiful nature and was so happy she was able to join us for this hop. If you’re a blog subscriber of Leonie’s and have joined us via her blog, thank you!
Weather is such an powerful topic. We talk about it, we enjoy it, we hate and we often base our activities around the weather that Mother Nature has delivered. There’s nothing better than having an excuse to stay inside and craft all day because the weather is awful outside!!!
With the cold weather making life a little chilly, I bought a gorgeous little heat pack buddy for a friend who is turning two this weekend. I couldn’t resist making a card that matched the design….
I love using inspiration from around me to make cards! Like all good punch art creations, this is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Lots of it is hand cut. The In Good Taste DSP provided excellent texture for the bottom part of the card and the top is Sahara Sand with Tasteful Textile embossing.
My current favourite way to finish a card is to add the Playful Alphabet letter dies with foam adhesive sheet. The effect is awesome!
This card just makes me smile! The heat bag monster is such a happy little character – it’ll be great for cold night snuggles!
Stay warm and keep hopping with our guest designer Leonie Stuart.
Have a great weekend! I hope the weather plays nice for whatever activity you have planned!

Just Add Ink #514 | Colour Challenge
~ Kelly Kent ~ 2 Comments
Hello! Today’s project is a design team card for the Just Add Ink Challenge. I’ve chosen a colour combination for the team to create with and I can’t wait to see what they – and you – do with it. Every JAI theme is a challenge which means we ask you to join in too. Add your project to the gallery on our blog (click here to visit) – your project could be the winner!
I had a totally different project in mind for this colour theme. Little Miss Papercraft turns 7 on the weekend and with a Frozen themed birthday party, this would have been perfect! I even preordered some delightfully snowy themed products from the upcoming Aug-Dec Mini Catalogue (aka the Holiday Catalogue), but sadly, they got held hostage by Australia Post and didn’t arrive in time.
So, instead, I have used the colours to create a cute birthday card using some of my favourite Annual Catalogue products.
The flowers on this card are from the Boho Indigo stamp set (part of the Boho Indigo Product Medley). This is a hidden gem of the Annual Catalogue and such a fun set to own! I used the coordinating dies in the kit to cut the feature flowers (Pool Party & Pretty Peacock) and the Vellum flourish.
The sentiment is from the Monogram Messages stamp set. I’m in love with the simplicity of this set. I cut the largest size of the stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies, stamped the “B” in Pretty Peacock, ‘is for’ in Smoky Slate and white heat embossed the ‘birthday’ on Pretty Peacock cardstock.
You could use this simple layout for just about any card and with the other stamps in the Monogram Messages stamp set, you could easily adapt the colours for any type of birthday, baby, hello or celebration card. There’s cute little picture stamps as well as the letters & words. Did I mention how much I love this stamp set?
Now it’s your turn to work your magic on these colours (or the closest colours you have in your stash if you don’t use Stampin’ Up! – a soft aqua, a deep teal and a light gray). Upload your project using the challenge colours and share it in our gallery.
Thanks for supporting the Just Add Ink challenge. We love having you share your talents with us each week!
